National or local decision makers are often confronted to difficult issues requiring urgent action, but for which there is no ready-made solutions. The Ocean Open University's team has specialized competences for the following, yet not exclusive, types of operations:

  • “Problem solving operations”, mobilizing various, ad hoc competences from around the world, are developed to tackle specific, localized issues. E.g. to fight a proliferation of algae in a specific area (bay, archipelago).

  • “Project design support”, can help the conception of ocean or costal projects bringing together different competences and professionals that generally need to be associated in such projects (support to project design, management and coordination).

  • “Mediating interventions” can help reconcile diverging views or interests. This can be useful for large, complex ocean or coastal infrastructure projects where interests, for instance from public and private sectors, may differ.
